Baby Growin' and Pumpkin Pickin'

So, we went to Goebberts this weekend with my parents and my in-laws. We used to go here when I was little, but hadn't been in years. Crazy how things have changed! Anyways, we're starting the tradition again for the bebe, beginning in utero. I'm going to dig up an old photo of me next to the "How Tall This Fall" sign in the next couple of days to compare. Here are some photos from the day...

I was a blue pumpkin...second biggest...great.

I fed a giraffe!
Their eyes are so pretty, and their tongues are so weird.

Eclecticity: KaLaLu is in a new shop!

Chicago, IL 60625

This shop is in the heart of Lincoln Square, and as the sign states, they have something for everyone, and now, KaLaLu frames, magnets and candle holders can be found here too! We're thrilled to be working with Siri and her crew.

In other news, we're crazy busy pumping out products before little man comes! I can't believe we're three weeks away from full term...

Yes, yes he could come anywhere from 3 weeks to 8 weeks...the lovely "full term range", but I can't even start to fathom being pregnant for 8 more weeks. He's dropped...and he's made it known. Sigh. We'll see. All I can do is truck on with KaLaLu, keep the house clean, continue to cook food to freeze and beg this little growing person to be ready soon.

Love, Chicago

Sometimes being stuck somewhere can be a good thing. I was waiting for Joey to pick me up after a last minute midwife appointment yesterday, where I was becoming increasingly bored and focused on my preggo discomfort.

That's when I looked across the street at the lake, and thought, well shit, this is probably the last warm day we'll have in Chicago this year...I should explore! So I did. And these are the photos....

Pretty Little Things: Holiday Edition #1

The holidays are coming, and we all know what that means....food, family, and alcohol. Three of the best things life has to offer ;)

So, while enormously pregnant (and dreaming of my glass of wine with Christmas dinner), I'm getting very nostalgic and starting to scope out pretty little things to embellish these next few months. Here are a few Etsy picks I've stumbled across so far.

Left to Right: Hand Knitted Pumpkin Hat by TheOwlTreeKnittingCo. Halloween Noisemaker Vintage by space24retro. Vintage Box Set of Halloween Cookie Cutters by CoopDeVilla. Halloween Baby Onsie by klzar.
Left to Right: Antique Ironstone Plates by BirdinHandVTG. Newborn Turkey Hat by mccdingbat. My First Thanksgiving by wildjuniper. Eat Drink and Get Stuffed Spoon by BeachHouseLiving.
Left to Right: Elf Hat by AnEnchantedLife87. Screen Printed Retro Santa Father Christmas Plush Toy Doll by Janefoster. Eight Christmas Atomic Glasses by UptownVintageHome. Baby Christmas Reindeer Hat by LittleMommaBoutique.

 In other news...
  • I'm 4 weeks away from term and can't believe it! We're rushing around trying to get everything done it time.
  • KaLaLu is booming away which is very exciting.
  • I had a thought provoking experience visiting my cousin who is 5 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy. She was in labor and now its stalled. Very frustrating for her, but she's a trooper!
  • My dog's feet smell like Fritos....they always do. My family's dog's feet have smelled like Fritos too. Why????
  • That's about it. Babies, KaLaLu and Frito feet puppies. This is my life.

Milwaukee's food

In Late October, Joey and I will have been together for 4 years, but September 18th was our first year wedding anniversary, and it was the best! For a gift I bought Joey tickets to go see a taping of NPR's popular show "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me",  and he planned a weekend trip to Milwaukee for us.

Joey found this great little place for breakfast called Restaurant Revolucion. It's a little sketchy looking, sitting on the outskirts of a mall parking lot with that weird spray paint stuff on the windows in the shape of margaritas and tacos. But, don't let that stop you, they have great food for really cheap!

Joey had chilaquiles, and I had a jalapeno hollandais that was complex and smooth. I have this weird rating system of Mexican restaurants, if their beans are good, and they have fresh cheese....the restaurant is sure to be delicious. And their beans scored high! Told you it was weird...but try it, it works. I believe the final bill totaled $20.00. For lots of food! For two people! Definitely check them out.

After breakfast, we drove around a little, then in true pregnant chick style, I was hungry again. So we went to one of my favorite pizza places ever, Transfer Pizza and Cafe. They have incredible specialty pizza's, lots of gluten free goodness and local artists work on the walls. So good.

Our last great food find was a restaurant called Tess. (Their site is disabled...but you can find them on yelp and such). Their food is fairly gourmet, but an approachable gourmet. They of course, are extremely gluten free friendly and even have gf rolls baked in house. I had a Gorgonzola chicken with a sweet potato gourmet, and Joey had duck confit.  They both were done perfectly...and their flour-less chocolate dome? Ahhhhhhhh. I was a very happy lady.

That's all for now...I kindof want to delve into the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at, as it was...er...interesting. But another time. Lets just stick with the happy, yummy side of things. All in all we had a lovely anniversary weekend, and I love my guy tons for planning such a sweet surprise trip!

Thanks Wisconsin!
