Milwaukee's food

In Late October, Joey and I will have been together for 4 years, but September 18th was our first year wedding anniversary, and it was the best! For a gift I bought Joey tickets to go see a taping of NPR's popular show "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me",  and he planned a weekend trip to Milwaukee for us.

Joey found this great little place for breakfast called Restaurant Revolucion. It's a little sketchy looking, sitting on the outskirts of a mall parking lot with that weird spray paint stuff on the windows in the shape of margaritas and tacos. But, don't let that stop you, they have great food for really cheap!

Joey had chilaquiles, and I had a jalapeno hollandais that was complex and smooth. I have this weird rating system of Mexican restaurants, if their beans are good, and they have fresh cheese....the restaurant is sure to be delicious. And their beans scored high! Told you it was weird...but try it, it works. I believe the final bill totaled $20.00. For lots of food! For two people! Definitely check them out.

After breakfast, we drove around a little, then in true pregnant chick style, I was hungry again. So we went to one of my favorite pizza places ever, Transfer Pizza and Cafe. They have incredible specialty pizza's, lots of gluten free goodness and local artists work on the walls. So good.

Our last great food find was a restaurant called Tess. (Their site is disabled...but you can find them on yelp and such). Their food is fairly gourmet, but an approachable gourmet. They of course, are extremely gluten free friendly and even have gf rolls baked in house. I had a Gorgonzola chicken with a sweet potato gourmet, and Joey had duck confit.  They both were done perfectly...and their flour-less chocolate dome? Ahhhhhhhh. I was a very happy lady.

That's all for now...I kindof want to delve into the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at, as it was...er...interesting. But another time. Lets just stick with the happy, yummy side of things. All in all we had a lovely anniversary weekend, and I love my guy tons for planning such a sweet surprise trip!

Thanks Wisconsin!
