Top 6 Baby Products (At 6 months)

  1. We just got this, and already love it. Made from earth-friendly, Midwest wood, these "Jalopies" are fun to grasp, roll and shake!
  2. Dude loves these. I love making Oscar's baby food, but lets face it...Mama's got enough on her plate. These help out tons when I'm having a busy week, and he eats them like crazy. I really like that they involve basic spices in their food, and offer interesting meal options like Chickpea Tomato with Beef and Cumin.
  3. Boob bottle. I'll admit, I was drawn by the design and name...but they turned out to be great bottles! They're affordable, have attachments for pumps, and travel well.
  4. This diaper pad cover is super cute. One note, its pretty transparent so make sure youve got something under it.
  5. The rays on this toy are awesome for little mouths. This guy has been Oscar's buddy through these first teeth! Non-toxic, water based, and made in Germany. Love it.
  6. Oh my cuteness. Baby Gap is a little dangerous in that you can't walk by one without spending over $50. There's one across the street from where we sometimes have breakfast with my parents, and we always get sucked in. BUT in our defense, there was a sale.  This is one of the outfits we picked up!

Those are my favorites for this month. I swear by them, because I use them. Happy baby shopping!

home

Amongst the chaos of an unfinished kitchen, boxes to be unpacked, and a vivacious 6 month old, Joey and I found a second to enjoy the views from our rooftop deck. Goodness I love this city.

A Note to my Baby Boy: You're 6 Months Old!

HALF A YEAR DOOD....HALF A YEAR!
Baby boy. You're hilarious. You've been blowing our minds lately. You've hit this new level of comprehension and alertness, and we love it.

 Goof.

You're seconds away from crawling. You get really frustrated that you cant move well, and start flailing your arms and legs, grunting and complaining. It sort of looks like youre trying to fly.
You broke your first tooth last week! Bottom right. That thing is a big jerk.
You're still pretty bald. Fuzzy as all get out, but bald.

We were just at Demi's wedding this weekend in Vegas. You were so good. You wont remember, but you slept in the Moby wrap on my chest as I danced the whole night. I danced hard, you slept hard. Best baby ever.

You're into everything!

You're favorite toys are teething beads, an elephant stroller toy that was mine when I was a baby, and a few teething rings. Though pretty much anything will do...

You sleep on your belly now. You've shown rolling over who's boss.

You love tubbies! You're a little fish.

I'm pretty sure you get what kisses are, and try to give them back. Sometimes you just try to chew on faces, but sometimes you're very sweet about it.

You're trying lots of new solids. You like veggies but not so much fruit. Weirdo. It's cool though, less sugar for you! Also you're starting to taste spices in food. We're determined to make you a well rounded eater!
You are an amazing little boy.

I love you my wonderful child

Under Construction

As if renovating our kitchen wasn't enough, I'm renovating the blog too! Craziness. I have no excuses. Things are pretty much done, but there's some fine tuning to go. Please bear with me.

A second to breathe

We love cooking and centering life around the kitchen. Since we just moved into our new condo a week and a half ago, we've had no such luxury. Up until Saturday, we were washing dishes in the bathtub. It got real.

So finally, about 1,000 take out containers later, we made our first dinner in our new home. While it wasn't completely ideal (as you'll see our walls are all ripped up, we have ply-wood counters and I couldn't find 3 key spices I wanted for the dish amongst the boxes)....it was perfect. This was the first night where we felt we could take a breath and truly appreciate our new place. It was much needed.

Oscar's Stripes

The beginning:

I was a little insane and didn't do any measurements while doing this. I did everything by eye, and by sheer luck, it turned out pretty darn well.

If you decide to try this, save yourself a lot of stress.... map out your stripes.

The bones

Oh my. What a week and a half this has been. While extremely exciting, buying this condo has created a sleepy, sleepy family. I'm generally not a fan of the phrase "blood, sweat and tears", but its exactly right. I can't begin to tell you how many splinters I've had... We've done a lot, but there's much more to go. In the meantime, I wanted to share the bare bones photo's I took the day after we got the keys. Check back for the progress updates!
